American Cancer Society Requests Help in the Fight Against Cancer
The American Cancer Society's new legislative initiative, the Minnesota Colorectal Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Act, is urging you (or your organization) to join in the fight against colorectal cancer in Minnesota.
Less than 2/3 of Minnesotans 50 or older report being screened as recommended for colorectal cancer. Insurance status is a significant barrier in accessing preventive care. Therefore, American Cancer Society, in collaboration with members of the Minnesota Cancer Alliance, will be proposing legislation to establish a free statewide screening program, similar to what currently exists for breast and cervical cancers (the Sage Screening Program).
Please join this exciting effort by:
· Working through your organization to officially endorse the legislation. ACS will then add your organization’s name to the list of supporters.
· Helping identify volunteers to help with a variety of tasks, from contacting lawmakers to promoting the upcoming Day at the Capitol March 6, 2008.
