Dr. Castellanos is the project coordinator for the Comunidades Latinos Unidos En Servicio (CLUES) DREGAN Project, a culturally-sensitive research program for the Latino Community in Minnesota. As an emergency medicine physician, Dr. Castellanos has directed national and international public health community-based initiatives in health promotion and prevention, including the development of primary health care programs; tobacco prevention programs; and the improvement of prescription drug access to communities below the poverty level. As consultant for the Pan American Health Organization, Dr. Castellanos has promoted the rational use of essential drugs in the Andean Community of Nations. His background includes director of graduate programs in health administration in the Superior School of Public Administration (ESAP) Colombia, and teacher and research assistant in the PRIME Institute College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota. Currently, Dr. Castellanos is a Ph. D. candidate at the University of Minnesota. In addition, he participates in the Eliminating Health Disparities Initiative, and is actively involved in the Minnesota Cancer Alliance, serving on the Steering Committee and the health disparities task force.
