North Central Cancer Treatment Group Latino Project - Mayo Clinic
The North
Central Cancer Treatment Group (NCCTG) Latino Project has established a nation-wide,
toll-free number, (800) 370-0939, to help increase awareness and opportunities
for members of the Latino community to participate in cancer clinical trials by
providing information on possible cancer clinical trial opportunities. Calls are received in a central location (Mayo
Clinic - Rochester)
and patients are triaged for study participation and referred to the nearest
participating NCCTG site.
Radio
public service announcements (PSAs) and flyers have been created to increase
awareness within local NCCTG communities.
The flyers and PSAs were developed in partnership with the organization,
“Redes En Accion”. Networking with a
variety of organizations within communities has been encouraged and is
occurring to continue to increase awareness of clinical trial options for
patients diagnosed with cancer. The
project’s goal is to establish an outreach program to provide information on
cancer clinical trials at all of the NCCTG sites.
