North East MN Obesity Prevention Project NEMOPP - Minnesota Department of Health
Mission is to reduce obesity in Carlton,
Cook, Lake, and St. Louis counties and on the Fond du Lac and Grand
Portage Reservations through coordinated public health strategies that include:
- Conducting
walkability assessments in the four participating counties
- Implementing
recommendations from the University
of Minnesota
“Guidelines for Offering Healthy Foods at Meetings, Seminars and Catered
Events”
- Assisting
employers in offering healthier vending machine options
- Directing
attention of district congressman to support NEMOPP focus on creation
transportation and community facilities that encourage increased physical
activity
This project is funded by a Minnesota Department of Health
PHHS Block Grant.
