Sirad Osman has transitioned between different socioeconomic systems, situations, relationships and identities, like many other displaced nomads in his native Somalia. Executive director of New Americans Community Services, Osman is a multi-lingual individual with the proven ability to develop, manage and administer organizations, projects and programs addressing the needs of dislocated people in African refugee camps and American communities.
His work with New Americans is focused on bridging cultural divides and engaging immigrants in their surrounding communities. Osman has initiated several health disparities and socioeconomic development projects within his community and is working to apply lessons and principles from academic research to enhance the social capital of new Americans.
