This Vietnamese language CRC DVD is the product of a great collaboration between the Vietnamese Social Services Cancer Education Program, program’s clients other community members with funding from Minnesota Cancer Alliance Mini Grant, the American Cancer Society and Put Your Rear in Gear.
A DVD that is linguistically and culturally appropriate for the Vietnamese American audience about colorectal cancer awareness.
The DVD will function to break down perceived barriers like pain, fear, and embarrassment resulting from screening procedure with ACS screening guidelines for colorectal cancer. With accurate knowledge and awareness about colorectal cancer prevention, viewers will be able to make informed decisions for participation in appropriate screening

We showed the DVD at a health class and received great feedbacks from to 125 participants.
The DVDs are disseminated to local clinics and national organizations, the cancer summit and being used by our program for CRC education.
We are currently a recipient of a research grant from the University Health Disparities Program to study the efficacy of using the DVD intervention to increase CRC screening in Vietnamese American. This study will be from January to December 2010.
