| Warren Larson is the public relations coordinator for MeritCare Health Systems in Bemidji. During his tenure, he has developed programs and organizations to address local health issues. He is the co-founder of the Beltrami Tobacco Education Awareness Movement (B-TEAM), Beltrami Wellness Education for Long Life (B-WELL), Celebrate Kindness Campaign, Clearwater Children’s Center, Headwaters Dental Access Clinic and the Clearwater Citizens for Violence-Free Community.
Larson has served on numerous state and local boards, and currently serves on the American Cancer Society, Midwest Division’s board of directors. Over the past eight years, Larson and his wife, Laine, have personally faced cancer. Laine was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998 and three years later Larson was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Their recoveries had been going well until last February when Laine had a reoccurrence. The couple is once again dealing with cancer and its effects.
“Our commitment to reduce cancer is strong as we don’t want our children to face cancer health issues in their future,” says Larson.
