Launch of new Cancer Plan Minnesota 2011-2016 Galvanizes Alliance Members

The Minnesota Cancer Alliance hosted Cancer Summit 2011 on March 24th  at the Minneapolis Airport Marriott.  Over 250 participants including health care professionals, community outreach workers, advocates, and survivors attended the Summit and the Reception on March 23rd.

The keynote speaker, Lawrence Wallack, Dean, College of Urban and Public Affairs, Portland State University  presented "Talking Public Health; America's Second Language"

This year’s Summit also featured top-notch speakers who provided up-to-date information concerning:

  • 2011 Minnesota Cancer Alliance initiatives, specifically new focus areas from the new Cancer Plan Minnesota 2011-2016
  • The need for Policy, Systems and Environmental changes
  • Cancer control opportunities in Minnesota
  • How health care reform may affect cancer prevention and control in Minnesota
